by The Green A-Team

A truly wonderful article by Allison Arieff from her By Design column in the NYT.

The Green Air Filter:

You’ll find stamped on the side of most industrial food products, “Suitable for Students and Prinsoners.” Most kids discovered this in Middle School and provided a stirring indication that the veil between school and prison was thin at a tender age.

The detatchment from nature and even exteme phobia experienced by kids in urban areas is perhaps most horrifying. Whoever came up with the idea to build Manhattan 20 miles high and make the rest of the Five Boroughs greenspace was right on.
