It is the event of the year…at least it should be. The U.S. Senate is in heavy debate to initialize the Carbon Cap Bill. It appears that the Senate has finally reached the state of maturation to realize that climate control is an actual important matter at hand. The main goal would be to have companies pay for permits that allow carbon emissions. Although the permits are to inspire deterrence against excess pollution, they really act as a ‘Get out of Jail Free’ card in a giant game of Monopoly: The Greenhouse Gas Edition. That is, the companies are allowed flexibilities with these permits so they can save them or even trade them among each other for a rainy day. It almost seems like the energy industry is trying to trick the Earth with how much carbon-dioxide is really released.

All games aside, these permits are a perfect representation of the Senate’s manipulation of the economy through environmental needs. Prices will have to rise in order to cover the cost of the permits and will suffer in competition against nations that do not have carbon cap. And as difficult as it may seem, it is the market that will have to take a toll in order to give the Earth a little bit of breathing room, so to speak.
